Do You Have Creative ADD?

Creative ADD; I'm not sure if it really exists, but if it does, I think I have it. Recently, I've been chatting a bit with one of my blog buddies Penny, from Art Journey , about how much I admire the fact that she starts a project and finishes it before starting another. I, on the other hand, start a project, see something else I would like to try, and drop everything to start another project or craft. In the last few weeks, I have started two quilts, done a block for Quilts of Hope , which I found out about through another blog that I follow, called Stitching Life , made some fabric postcards, and also made an I Spy Bag for my daughter. This, you see, is why I think that I have what I call Creative ADD...

The bad news? It takes me FOREVER to finish anything... The good news? I get to try all sorts of fun projects and ideas.. Would you like to take a peek at what I've been up to? Have a look:

This is the Block I made for Quilts of Hope

Here is my progress on the free form quilting blocks I'm working on

And this is the I Spy Bag I made for my daughter, which she loves!

I have also made minimal progress on the Stash Box Quilt, which I started at the beginning of the new year. Add to these projects the fabric postcards I've been working on, and I start to realize I'm not so lazy, after all; I just work on multiple projects at once, so I need to remember not to rush to finish anything, unless of course, I have a deadline in place.

Next Friday will be my daughter's eleventh birthday, which means that on top of my list of projects, I have a few more things to add to my "to do" list. I'm not sure about you, but I have always been a person who likes to have a full plate, although I will admit that at times, things get a little crazy.

So, I have to ask: what kind of quilter/crafter/artist are you? Are you the uber organized, list making, take one step at a time, and finish one piece before you start another? Or, are you like me - a million things going on at once, and a million more ideas cropping up in your brain and in your sketchbook - not so organized, not too many lists, and sometimes wonder where to start? Perhaps you are one of those people who fall in between these two extremes - a few lists, a few projects, and an organized way of getting through it all?

Whichever type it is that you are, or if you approach projects in a way I haven't even described, I would love to know; after all, I'm a people person, and I love to know what makes us all tick...

Loved this posting! *smile* At you know, I'm the 'finish one thing at a time' person. Not too much for making lists unless my 'task list' gets to long and I need a reminder. Usually while I'm working on thing I start collecting threads and bits and bobs for the next piece but I won't actually start it until piece number one is done. And I do ENVY those who can work on several projects and levels at one time!

I really like the QoH block, such lovely blues. I think it's reallly quite helpful to work on several things at the same time - but as you say, finishing can be tricky :-)

I guess that's why they have WIP Wednesday, lol!

:0 I've said this about myself! I do go into obsessive overdrive at times on a project, but that is usually because I have so many possibilities I want to include.

Sometimes I have so many things I want to do that I become paralyzed with indecision.

I always called it QDD - quilters distraction disorder - getting pulled in by a new pattern or idea before another is finished, but I think for me it is not just the quilts -but all crafts... and then there are the indecisive days where I have so many irons in the fire I can't decide which to work on, so I do nothing at all (except surf the crafting blogs and get even MORE distracted ideas!)
